Benefits of Micronutrients – List of Micronutrients

Sara Lovelady Aug 22, 2017

When it comes to your health, little things can make a big difference, like micronutrients. Unlike macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fats), micronutrients are only needed in tiny amounts; nevertheless, they’re essential to good health! Unfortunately, many of us don’t consume adequate amounts of these tiny powerhouses to experience truly vibrant wellbeing.

Are you getting enough of these micronutrients?

Vitamin A

Why you need it: Vitamin A is necessary for healthy vision, immune strength, and the integrity of the skin and mucous membranes.
What to know: There are two forms of this micro-nutrient: pre-formed vitamin A (found in animal products) and beta-carotene (found in plants). Beta carotene can be converted into vitamin A in the body.
Where to get it: You can get pre-formed vitamin A from dairy products, meat, and fish. You can get beta carotene from orange-colored fruits and vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, and apricots. It’s also in leafy greens like kale and spinach.

Vitamin C

Why you need it: Vitamin C aids immune function and is needed for the health of the connective tissues.
What to know: Vitamin C is water-soluble, so it dissolves in the watery parts of your body. That means you need a fresh supply every day.
Where to get it: You know oranges have vitamin C, but so do many other fruits and vegetables such as papaya, bell peppers, broccoli, strawberries, and pineapple.

Vitamin E

Why you need it: Vitamin E supports immune health and is also important for making red blood cells.
What to know: Tocopherols are a family of vitamin E compounds. Many vitamin products contain only one tocopherol — alpha tocopherol — but there are actually four: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta.
Where to get it: Many seeds and nuts are excellent sources, but you can also get vitamin E from spinach, chard, and avocado.

What do all these micronutrients have in common? They can be found in an array of Juice Plus+ products, including Juice Plus+ capsules, chewables, nutrition bars and Complete shake mix! So, while it’s important to eat plenty of foods that contain micronutrients, it’s good to know that Juice Plus+ can help fill the gap.
